چکیده

25 In this study, we characterized the patterns and timing of cortical activation of 26 visually-guided movements in a task with critical temporal demands. In particular, we 27 investigated the neural correlates of motor planning and on-line adjustments of reaching 28 movements in a choice-reaction time task. High-density EEG (256 electrodes) was 29 recorded in 13 subjects performing reaching movements. The topography of the 30 movement-related spectral perturbation was established across five 250-ms temporal 31 windows (from pre-stimulus to post-movement) and five frequency bands (from theta to 32 beta). Nine regions of interest were then identified on the scalp and their activity was 33 correlated with specific behavioral outcomes reflecting motor planning and on-line 34 adjustments. Phase coherence analysis was performed between selected sites. We found 35 that motor planning and on-line adjustments share similar topography in a fronto-parietal 36 network, involving mostly low frequency bands. In addition, activities in the high and 37 low frequency ranges have differential function in the modulation of attention, with the 38 former reflecting the pre-stimulus, top-down processes needed to promote timely 39 responses, and the latter the planning and control of sensory-motor processes. 40 41

Effect of practice variability on anticipatory postural control during reaching task

Introduction and purpose: Reaching movement is one of the common task for assessing learning mechanism and is daily task in human life, improvement in postural stability can influence the function of this task. In this term, the aim of current study was to compare constant (simple reaction time) and variable random practice (choice reaction time) on the improvement of anticipatory postural adju...

Slow brain potential and oscillatory EEG manifestations of impaired temporal preparation in Parkinson's disease.

Performance in behavioral tasks is influenced by temporal expectations shaped by the temporal structure of the task. Such implicit temporal preparation is reflected in slow brain potentials and electroencephalographic oscillations and is attributed to interval timing mechanisms that probably depend on intact basal ganglia function. We investigated implicit timing in Parkinson's disease using a ...

Attentional Demands of Balance Under Dual Task Conditions in Young Adults

Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify the role of attentional process in postural control using choice reaction time task while changing the visual and proprioceptive cues under difficult balance task (standing on one-leg). Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted by participating 20 young people (22.75±2.29). Each subject performed one-leg standing as balance task for e...

Temporal distribution of attentional demands during a tennis serve

In the current research, the dual-task paradigm was used to examine the temporal distribution of attentional demands during a tennis serve. Twenty experienced tennis players to performed tennis serves. The participants were asked to respond verbally to an auditory tone presented at four probe positions (PPs) during tennis serves. The probe reaction time measure of attention was administered dur...
